AirShip VTOL UAV Ducted Fan Rotor Turbines
The ATG AirShp VTOL UAV does not use exposed rotors, and the aircraft is able to operate safely with human operators in close proximity because the ducted fan rotor assemblies are enclosed. The turbines accelerate the airstream and add momentum to the mass of air through the turbine sufficiently to provide for vertical lift capacity to lift the ATG VTOL to the desired altitude. Compared to the efficiency of conventional rotorcraft rotors, the ATG?s two lateral and rear ducted fan assemblies have greater efficiency in utilizing horsepower at the turbines in moving the mass of air required to provide the desired lift. The ducted fan assemblies maximize the air mass flow without the loss of air at the rotor tips experienced with conventional rotorcraft rotor blades. The extreme high velocity of the air through the turbines compensates for their short turbine disc diameter as compared to the diameter of conventional.
